"Portrait of a black woman" now known as "Portrait of Madeleine" 1800. By Marie Guillemine Benoist, Louvre Museum.
This work was painted six years after the abolition of slavery in the French colonies and symbolized the emancipation of black people.
With this work the author broke the habit of Western painters to represent the inhabitants of non-European countries in exotic costumes. It was also the first time that a black woman occupied the center of a portrait. The young woman portrayed was named Magdalena and was in the service of the artist's brother-in-law.
Only two years after presenting the painting Napoleon reestablished slavery, which was not definitively abolished until 1848.
Why is Nigeria famous in Africa?
Contrary to popular belief Nigeria within her territorial lines, Nigeria didn't shot into prominence because of her crude oil. She has been fairly famous towards the end of her time as a British colony. But she really became known in Africa during the Apartheid struggle in South Africa. She was actively involved all through the struggle.
She was also actively involved in formation of the defunct OAU now AU. Her crude oil did help her get some riches, she is worth the hype for that too.
She was also one of the forerunners in the formation of ECOWAS too. Nigeria has also got a large population, a somehow awkward ratio to her land mass (we should really consider the one child policy) hence, her citizens are everywhere, not only in Africa, all around the world. I am not implying the landmass cannot house her 180M populace, they are just born adventurers.
Nigeria has established herself as a bureaucratic major shareholder in African politics.
It is safe to say sports is also one of the factors why she is popular within Africa.
Another factor worth mentioning is her music, names like Wizkid, Yemi Alade, The PSquare, Tuface are household names around Africa.
And the last but not the least is the unending dramas, we should have a Telenovela dedicated to all the ridiculous drama we are treated to of recent, like a fully functional human being claiming a snake swallowed thirty-five million naira in cash, or the monkey that mistook twenty-seven million naira for a banana and eloped with it, or the crooked lawmaker that appeared in court on a stretcher feigning illness. This list will not be complete and honest if I fail to add that we are infamous because of the depth of corruption in our government.
What is something that rich people know that the rest of us would benefit from?
Bill Gates has publicly stated that each of his three children will inherit $10 million.
Okay, now that’s a lot of money, but it’s just a tiny fraction of the Gates’ multi-billion dollar fortune.
Consider this:
Bill Gates is worth around 115 billion dollars!
See this with zeros:
$115,000,000,000
Compare to $10,000,000!
Each kid is getting 10/115,000 =
0.0087% of his fortune!
The three kids live in a 130+ million dollar home; they won’t even be able to keep the house they have lived in!
Why did Bill and Melinda Gates decide this?
Because they don’t want their kids to be lazy!
Here’s their own words:
“We want to strike a balance where they have the freedom to do anything but not a lot of money showered on them so they could go out and do nothing,” Bill Gates explained during a TED talk.
His fortune will be given to charitable causes.
Now to answer your question, what is something that rich people know that the rest of us would benefit from?
Money spoils people!
Bill Gates has proved in many ways to be an extraordinary human being, not only because he’s a visionary genius, but also because he’s never lost his mind with so much money, power, and fame.
Exemplary family!

One of my university mate risked it all to write exam for his then gf, he was caught by a lecturer he was close to.
He was in his final yr & so the lecturer didn't want him expelled, the lecturer punished him by deliberately failing him in 2 of his own courses.
Gf graduated.
My guy couldn't pass the courses & had 2 extra yrs.
He was still in sch when the gf left for service.
He was still in that same sch when the gf told him that she was getting married.
He was still in the same sch, she got married & had her honeymoon in Seychelles.
