President Tinubu suspends CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele from office with immediate effect.

According to a terse statement by Willie Bassey Director, Information Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Friday night, it is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.

Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of investigation and the reforms.

24-Year-Old Man Murder, Buried Friend In Shallow Grave In Enugu

Onuabuchi was nabbed by the police for strangling to death and burying his 44-year-old friend in a shallow grave.

This was disclosed by the Enugu State Police Command Spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe in a statement posted on the command’s Twitter handle on Monday.

The statement said, ”Enugu State Police Command press release of 24th April 2023.

“Enugu police operatives arrest, arraign and have a young man, 24, remanded for strangling to death and burying friend, 44, in a shallow grave.

“A young man, Agbo Onuabuchi aged 24, a native of Ebonyi State, but resident at Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been arraigned and remanded in Enugu Custodial Centre, for strangling to death and burying his male friend,
one Peter Ukekwe, aged 44, in a shallow grave, at Amori community in Nkanu West Local Government Area, on 01/04/2023.

“The suspect and the deceased had on the said date travelled from Ogidi, Anambra State, to the mentioned location to visit one Onyeka Edeh (male and a native doctor).

“However, during the night hours, the duo left the host’s house for an unknown destination.

“A search was conducted, but they were not found until the following morning, when the suspect was arrested at Obe community in the same LGA, by police operatives serving in Nkanu West Division of Enugu State Command, with the assistance of citizens, while he was attempting to escape back to Ogidi, Anambra State.

“The suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he strangled the victim to death and buried him in a shallow grave in the bush, where his remains were exhumed and deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

“The case was, thereafter, transferred to the Homicide Section of the State CID Enugu, where the investigation into the case was consolidated, concluded and the suspect arraigned and remanded accordingly for further hearing.”

Police confirm lady who set her husband ablaze in Osun has also taken her own life.

Ifeoluwa Bamidele, the young lady who made the news after set her husband, Bolu, ablaze in their home in Koka village, in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State on Sunday, July 17, has committed suicide.

Reports claim Ifeoluwa set Bolu on fire after she found out he welcomed a child with another woman. Their marriage was barely a year old.

This tragic development was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Osun state police command, SP Yemisi Opalola.

SP Opalola said efforts to reach Mrs. Bamidele who initially went into hiding in Ekiti state yielded results on Thursday after she was able to get a Non-Governmental organization to mediate.

Opalola said Ifeoluwa opened up that she was in Aramokoko and she then instructed some personnel to go and get her from where she was.

”It was when they picked her they saw she was behaving funny. They asked her what happened. She confessed that she taken a poisonous substance before she left Ekiti. We rushed her to WesleyGate hospital. They tried all they could so that she can vomit all the substance. They later discovered that it had been long that she took it and it had destroyed her internal organ. That was how she died”

Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has been denied a visa to perform in Canada over fears she might not leave the country.

According to Le Devoir, the French-language newspaper published in Montreal and distributed in Quebec and throughout Canada, reports that the afro-pop superstar will be unable to perform at a festival’s final closing concert on Sunday.

The 33-year-old Singer is said to be one of the headliners of the Festival international Nuits d’Afrique. Commenting on the development, Suzanne Rousseau, the festival co-founder, said the visa denial was due to “financial reasons, and for fears that the group wouldn’t leave Canada.”

The Festival’s co-founder also lamented that the process of applying for a visitor’s visa has been difficult for “at least five years.”

In her words;

“Finally, we got an answer saying the musicians were refused, saying they have to guarantee that they have enough financial means that will make them go back to their country”.
